Where did April go?

According to the weather, I think its still late Feb. early March. Not the end of April first of May.
We sat at Justin's soccer game last night and about froze to death. It was so cold and so windy, it made it hard to enjoy the game. Justin did score the first goal which was very exciting. We play Bingham tomorrow, Go SILVERWOLVES!
Jared has joined a rock climbing team and had his first competition of Sat. It was fun to watch. I now have a new respect for rock climbers. What a lot of muscle that requires. He did very good for never doing anything like that before. He's like a little spider on the wall. He just climbs right up. I guess it pays to be small in this case.
We had a fun Easter, Cold, but fun. Mom and dad came up and pulled a new trailer up we bought from down there. We are excited to use it now. The kids were so excited that Fri. night when Grandp and Kirk got it into the back yard, they decided to sleep in it.
While reading a friends blog, I noticed she was doing a give a way.
Michele Ashman Bell is doing a give away on her blog. It's really fun to see what she's doing each week. Michele is from St. George and has written a ton of books. I've read most of them and can't wait for the next one the come out. She written some pre-teen books too. My kids loved the spy hunt series. We read them one summer while we would travel in the car to and from St. George. If you want in on a fun contest check out her site. I've tried to add it to my list on the side.
Well, May will be here before you know it. Jared will be turning 12, school will be getting out, and hopefully the weather will be warming up just a little.
I will try to get some pictures posted of soccer and rock climbing.

March

By looking out the window, you would never guess that in two days it will be April.

So much has happened in March I'm not even sure where to start.

Let's start at the very beginning.

March 2,3,4 were high school soccer tryouts for Justin. He made the cut each night and then the coach said there were just to many good players he would need to see them all one more time. SO... on the 5th we went back to the soccer field to show the coach what he had. According to Ryan (his club coach) he would make the team no problem.
Well, everyone can't make the team and Justin was one of them. We were all shocked when his name didn't appear on the list. Justin was tough and didn't say much, just buried himself into his book. I could tell he was very hurt and my heart ached for him. I called Ryan to ask what to do with him all spring. He was as shocked as we were that he didn't make the team. It was a long Thurs. night at our house.

Fri. while I was doing some subbing at the middle school, I got a call to have Justin at the field ready to play, the coach wanted to see him one more time. After he offered a spot to Justin on the JV team. Congrats to Justin! I guess a few parents of other players, and former high school players who knew of Justin called or emailed the coach and told him what a mistake he was making. It's all good, thanks to our USA soccer family. As you can tell, March has been a lot of soccer.

We also had a big birthday bash for Kirk's dad. Grandpa Phillips turned 93! He's doing awesome, he lives by himself still and is getting around a ton better. The toes that were giving him so much trouble a year ago are finally better.

While the kids were off track, we checked Justin out of school and went on a long awaited family vacation. 22 months ago I booked a condo in Hawaii. The 22 months seemed to go by slow, but they finally past and on March 17th we flew to the big island of Hawaii. When we landed Krista said, "Mom, this is not what I thought Hawaii would be like." Mind you that when flying into Kona, it looks like your flying into St. George, just a little more black lava as far as the eye can see. You don't even see trees of any kind.

We spent Tues - Sat. at a condo closer to the North end of the island and then Sat - Tues. we moved condos and went to more of the south end.

We hiked to waterfalls, went to the market, spent a day at the volcano national park, a day or two the beaches, we did a Luau, tide pooling, Justin and Kirk did baptisms at the temple, we snorkeled, body surfed, we saw dolphins, beautiful fish, and whales, most of all had a great time being together as family.

Now it's back to real life.

When we got back Kirk and I had tickets to a play with some friends, I usually make dinner for the kids and they stay home with Justin. Justin had a soccer game before we left so instead to making dinner I went to the game. I stopped by home to get Krista and Jared settled before Justin got home, Krista was getting her TV dinner ready, and things were okay. Justin would be home within 30 min. I guess while Justin was home showering, Jared decided to make Mc and Cheese. Jared has been making Mc and Cheese for some time now and does an awesome job. Krista decided to wash her dishes at the same time Jared was draining the Mc and cheese. You guessed it. Boiling water on arm. She has quite the burn. Jared felt bad, Justin helped Krista run cold water on it and she cried. They tried to call us, but we had shut the phone off. I felt terrible about not making them dinner and leaving it for them to do. Krista has been tough and has a nasty looking burn on her little arm.
Other adventures we done this month was selling our trailer. Yep, that trailer we spent all spring fixing up. It just wasn't for us. It was nice and roomy inside once it was up, but we had no place to store our camping stuff. We have stuff in the garage, in the shed, in the house, some in the trailer and when we went to use it, some of the stuff would be with us and some was not. We finally decided it was great for towing, (even I could do it,) and it was great for sleeping in (the beds were great) but it just wasn't right for our family. So on to KSL it went and to a new home. So that's our March; we can't wait to see what April brings, hopefully nice spring weather.

Frustration!

Okay, anyone reading my blog I need help. Notice it's all on the left side? Why? How did it do that and how do I change it back? I don't know what I did, I thought I was changing the background and adding a new post. This is what happens when you do it late at night. I should have just gone to bed. Someone HELP! I'm not the computer person at my house and the one that is, isn't home to help.

February

We had a fabulous February, both boys played basketball every Saturday. Justin had his first job; he got to referee Jr. Jazz games. WOW! getting paid to do something he loves, play.

Jared's sixth grade did the musical Suesical. Jared had a leading role in his class. He did so good, he's teacher said he needs to go into acting. I tried to get him to sign up for drama in 7th grade but he said no.

Justin also played indoor soccer (FUTSAL) every Fri. or Sat. Which he loved. His team was undefeated. There were days I think that's all he did. He would go to basketball practice in the morning, stay for school, go to High School soccer, then to club soccer, and then home to eat and off to young men's basketball practice. Play, Play, Play, It's a good thing he has lots of energy. When he crashes he crashes hard.

Pres. weekend Kirk, Jared and Krista went to a cabin up by Park City that Kirk's cousin had gotten. They had a great time playing in the snow and playing with a bunch of cousins.
Justin and I went to Phoenix to a soccer tournament. We had a great time too. It wasn't really hot, it was just good soccer weather. The team played great. They were undefeated, but didn't win the tournament. His coach calls him the energizer bunny. He thought that was alright. We stayed at my friends grandma's house close by the fields, it wasn't warm enough to swim, but Justin couldn't pass up the chance.





Krista was a great cheerleader with all the games she went to, she even wanted to do a mini cheer camp. So, we signed her up for the cheer camp that the high school was doing. She got to cheer during half time at one of the Riverton Basketball home games.

We also took the kids and went to the Draper Temple openhouse. It's very pretty and we can't wait to compare it to the other new temple opening up close to us.
